Say Yes! Enhance ESL students learning skills with computer based programs!

The article Technology and ESL is a position paper arguing that computers, and computer based programs should be integrated in classrooms to enhance English language. First it addresses the problem that English Second Language students "may not acquire the appropriate language skills". Therefore, it is up to us as educators to find forms to enhance their language skills.  In addition, the article mentions studies of computer based programs helping these students in developing those skills. The computer based programs consists of reading and writing to engage students in learning therefore making it enjoyable for them as well. It also benefits the child "such as improved motivation, improved language processing and thinking skills, improvement of basic skills, and continued learning".

I couldn't agree more with Taylor in this subject. By incorporating technology in the classroom it will benefit the child's language skills. Children are intrigued with technology which is a great tool to engage learning. By building these language skills will provide a secure foundation for their future education in academics. This covers guide number 1 in UNIVERSAL DESIGN FOR LANGUAGE. In addition it also covers guide number 2 in UNIVERSAL DESIGN FOR LANGUAGE it "provides appropriate accommodation, support, and maintains high achievement expectations for all students, including students with disabilities and students who are limited English proficient". By incorporating these computer based programs IT accommodates the child's need therefore giving them an equal education. I view computer based programs for ESL students a very successful tool that educators should use in there classrooms.
